In 2025, Hope Within was able to provide 2712 medical, counseling and dental visits to our uninsured, underserved neighbors. underserved neighbors. Each one of these numbers represents a life that was impacted for the better due to the fact each person mentioned here is aligned with the mission of Hope Within and views their service as a tangible demonstration of the love of Jesus Christ. We acknowledge that the gift of time is priceless and more precious than gold, as once it is spent, it can never be regained.

OFFICERS

Michael Murray– Board President

Michael hails from California where he was born and raised. He has ived in California, Arizona a nd Germany before landing in PA where he has been a resident for 22 years.

He is married to Dorothee and has two children and two grandchildren. Michael came to the Lord through service in church music ministry. He has been an organist, choir director and worship leader. Michel currently attends Hershey Evangelical Free Church and serves as an adult Sunday school leader and small group leader.

His career experience includes financial, marketing, IT and leadership roles in various sectors including retail, manufacturing, software development, and arts management. His current position is Director of Finance at the Harrisburg Symphony. Michael first volunteered at Hope Within before it opened clearing brush from the property shortly after it was acquired. He joined the board of Hope Within in 2019, serving as treasurer before becoming President. Michael also serves on the board of the Susquehanna Chorale. In his spare time, in addition to spending time with his family, Michael enjoys playing the piano, reading, cinema, music, following current events, debate, and fixing things around the house and yard.

Ralph D’Antonio, Treasurer, Board of Directors, Retired Director of Pharmacy Wellspan Good Samaritan Hospital

Joined Hope Within as a member of the Board of Directors in 2019.

Presently retired after career as a pharmacist for over 40 years serving in clinical and administrative roles in a number of settings in NY and PA (hospitals, nursing homes, home infusion, regional hospital associations). In these various settings, I held positions as staff pharmacist, pharmacy director/manager, and consultant. I received my degree from St. John’s University College of Pharmacy in NY.

I have also served in volunteer roles in church leadership, teaching, and worship ministry. I am married to my wife of 53 years Pamela, and we have two children and 10 grandchildren.

DIRECTORS

Scot Conley – Board Member, Volunteer Provider

Scott Conley is a board-certified family physician who has practiced medicine in Lancaster County for over 25 years and has volunteered at Hope Within for around 15 years. As a regular donor to Hope Within and a current board member, Scott is a big fan of Hope Within and its mission of sharing God’s love with those in need. Scott grew up in suburban Philadelphia (he is therefore a huge Philadelphia sports fan), attended Drexel University for undergrad and moved to Central PA for medical school at Penn State Hershey and residency at Lancaster General.

He met his wife Tracy during his college years through Intervarsity (she stole the basketball from him during an intercollegiate pick-up game), and they have been married for over 30 years. They have two grown daughters who live locally and who are married to two great guys.

When not working or volunteering at Hope Within, Scott enjoys spending time with his awesome family, excelling at mediocre golf, cheering on the Eagles and Phillies, reading fiction and nonfiction, listening to Switchfoot and occasionally writing stuff.

Matthew L. Hoke, Esq. - Secretary, Attorney at McNees Wallace & Nurick LLC

Matt was raised in Abbottstown (Adams County) and was blessed to grow up in a loving, Christ-centered family. He’s a graduate of Patrick Henry College, where he studied Government, and the University of Virginia Law School. After clerking for two federal judges, Matt started practicing law at McNees Wallace & Nurick LLC in Harrisburg. He specializes in white collar criminal defense & government investigations and litigation.

He lives in Harrisburg and is an active member of West Shore Free Church in Mechanicsburg where he leads a life group of young adults and volunteers with the children’s ministry.

Matt enjoys going for walks in his neighborhood, working out, reading, playing his guitar, and spending time with family and friends.

He was blessed to join the Board of Hope Within in July 2025 and is passionate about its mission to care for people physically—through the excellent services it provides—and, most importantly, spiritually—through sharing Jesus’s love and His Gospel. He’s excited to see how God continues to use Hope Within to bless our neighbors.

Michael O’Connor MBA, MA - Retired Pastor, Former Financial Manager US Merchant Marine Academy

Mike spent the early years of his life in the Washington D.C. area and Virginia suburbs before moving to Long Island New York where he served as Financial Manager of the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy for six years before responding to God’s call into pastoral ministry. A master’s degree from Moody Bible Institute was followed by 38 years of pastoral ministry as an associate pastor and then senior pastor, all on Long Island.

Mike and his wife Mary have four married daughters and ten grandchildren.

Mike and Mary moved to Lititz Pennsylvania nearly five years ago after retiring from pastoral ministry. They are currently attending Calvary Church of Lancaster where they are serving in ministries of teaching, global outreach and pastoral care. Mike also volunteers as a Hospital Chaplain at UPMC—Lititz and also continues overseas ministry both in person and by ZOOM.

In addition, Mike loves hiking and outdoor recreation, reading, performance arts and projects that personalize and beautify their home, along with rooting long distance for the 27-time World Champion New York Yankees.

It has been Mike’s honor to serve on the Board of Hope Within since March 2023.

Aires Liu-Helm – Board Member

Aries medical career began in Buffalo as an Allergist. She served as Director of the Allergy Department in Buffalo, NY. Aries has been a member of several different medical committees, Boards, Score, and Co-President of the Buffalo Allergy Society. She has served as a volunteer physician with a missions team to Ghana and Dominican Republic, clinical staff for People Against the Trafficking of Humans, to underserved and vulnerable individuals, homeless women and children and she is one of our valued volunteer physicians here at Hope Within!

Aries and her husband, Tom are active members at Hershey Free Church and have 3 adult children, a son and two daughters. They 8 grandchildren and enjoy spending time with them as much as they can. Aries gets to travel to visit her grandchildren, she exercises to keep her balance and core strong and volunteers to keep her mind and skills sharp. She seeks to share God’s love by caring for others in thoughtful ways.
